In 1972 he obtained the Architectural Degree by the University of Barcelona and started working in the Estudio de Arquitectos Balcells.

In 1977 he moved to Rome with the purpose of professional improvement. There he completed his studies and collaborated professionally with Italian architects in an international architectural studio. During these years he specialized in building rehabilitation and reformation.

In 1984 he returned to Barcelona and joined the Estudio de Arquitectos Balcells who is currently directing.

He has participated in the design and construction of very different types of buildings:

The Hospital of San Juan de Dios in Barcelona. The headquarters building for Bankunion in Barcelona. School buildings in Catalonia for Viaró, La Vall, Pineda. Residence for old people Bella Tardor in Catalonia. Project for the Barcelona headquarters building of Banc Sabadell and the construction management of their branch offices all over Spain. Social housing design and construction in Catalonia for Fundació Familia i Benestar Social.

Now he is participating in the direction of the project and construction of a landmark 30-story tower the Barcelona Building of Colombo in Sri Lanka.
